Customer site leverages continues leveraging NOA’s expertise and best-demonstrated-practices for system redesign.

March 2009 - Coney Island Hospital, Coney Island, NY - Negley, Ott & Associates, Inc.'s consultant, Brenda Rollins continues providing technical support on design and configuration of the Behavioral Health Departments (BeHere) for redesigning of their on-line documentation. The redesign includes documentation for both Chemical Dependency and Mental Health and is used for Inpatients, Outpatients, and Emergency Patients. The project also incorporates the Mobile Crisis Unit. The database reconfiguration involves changes to procedure documentation, result verification, chart review, and desktop design. The module is comprised of approximately 100 procedures used across the seven BeHere departments. Changes to the Behere module will affect over 300 users.

The redesign project, which started four months ago and will continue for several more, will allow users to complete documentation more efficiently and will assist users in following a patient's care across visits. The ease with which Instructors and Supervisors will be able to verify documentation will significantly increase. As an example of additional functional enhancements that will be provided in the future via the redesign effort, NOA will be developing reports to assist users with tracking patients due for services and with providing a more condensed method of reviewing documentation that recur across visits.

This project represents a significant accomplishment to incorporate best-demonstrated-practices via the Quadramed-CPR™/ CPOE™ system at Coney Island Hospital. The lead NOA consultant on this project is Brenda Rollins, who worked closely with the IT leadership and project team from Coney Island Hospital.

Coney Island Hospital is one of the multiple facilities of the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation (NYCHHC).

Congratulations to Coney Island Hospital, Quadramed and NOA's Brenda Rollins for the recent successful deployment. This deployment is an additional example of how NYCHHC continues to demonstrate quality and excellence towards community health by using the Quadramed CPR™ integrated electronic health record.

About Negley, Ott & Associates, Inc.

NOA was formed in 1992 by IS professionals with a desire to provide hospital information system and clinical professionals with best demonstrated practices in conjunction with implementing clinical software systems that focus on patient care.  The issues, personalities, opportunities, challenges and solutions required by clinical system implementations require the ability to meld sensitivity to clinical processes with the realities of computing and patient care delivery.  To date, NOA has provided services to over 60 hospitals installing clinical systems using an approach that stresses both outcomes and knowledge transfer. Supporting so many users, both during and after their installation, gives NOA the opportunity to understand the issues that make clinical systems work, and those that don't.
