NOA supports multiple implementations via staff augmentation engagements at Phoenix Children’s Hospital in September 2008

September 2008Phoenix Children's Hospital (PCH) project team successfully implemented another phase for clinical documentation using NOA’s staff augmentation consulting support.  PCH had previously engaged NOA to provide project management and design/configuration support.  After a successful initial deployment of vital signs and I&O flowsheets in an earlier phase of the project, PCH recently brought live additional interdisciplinary flowsheets and structured notes to further deploy the automated clinical documentation functionality designed within the Eclipsys Sunrise Clinical Manager enterprise information system.  The units included within this activation were two neonatal intensive care units with a total of 143 beds.  In addition to nursing documentation, the Knowledge-Based Charting™ implementation involved all disciplines including Respiratory Therapy, Nutrition, Lactation, Social Work, and Rehab Services.  Additional accomplishments included deployment of an ED tracking board to support the workflow in the Emergency Department.  These additional phases of deployment were very successful due to the dedication and product expertise existing among NOA’s staff augmentation resources as well as PCH’s project team and super-users.

NOA’s Jeanie Eckmann, MT (ASCP), Pelvia Woods, RN, and Judith Levi, RN were the staff augmentation consultants on this initiative.  NOA’s focus and scope on this engagement was to provide support via product expertise for clinical documentation and Clinical Manager’s Sunrise Knowledge-Based Charting™ solution.

Over the past two years, NOA has worked side by side with the PCH project team in order to provide clinical systems consulting support to Phoenix Children’s Hospital. The engagement involved providing support as a member of the project team in a staff-augmentation capacity in order to facilitate in the transfer of knowledge and best-demonstrated-practices to the hospital’s internal project team.

Congratulations to Phoenix Children’s Hospital and NOA's clinical consultants for yet another successful activation phase that leverages NOA's best-demonstrated-practices with clinical computing using the Eclipsys Sunrise Clinical Manager system.

About Negley, Ott & Associates, Inc.
NOA was formed in 1992 by IS professionals with a desire to provide hospital information system and clinical professionals with best demonstrated practices in conjunction with implementing clinical software systems that focus on patient care.  The issues, personalities, opportunities, challenges and solutions required by clinical system implementations require the ability to meld sensitivity to clinical processes with the realities of computing and patient care delivery.  To date, NOA has provided services to over 60 hospitals installing clinical systems using an approach that stresses both outcomes and knowledge transfer. Supporting so many users, both during and after their installation, gives NOA the opportunity to understand the issues that make clinical systems work, and those that don't.
