NORTH BRONX HEALTHCARE NETWORK Leverages the Misys-CPR™ / Misys-CPOE™
System for JCAHO compliance with discharge summaries |
|
Jacobi Medical Center, Bronx, NY,
-- January 2007 -- Negley, Ott & Associates,
Inc.'s consultants, Judith Purvis, MT, ASCP and Anna May Petronella, RN
recently completed design and configuration revisions of the
Comprehensive Discharge Summary report for Medical/Surgical and
Psychiatric patient populations in order to support JMC’s use of the
Misys-CPR system to further demonstrate JCAHO compliance. This was
a revision of an existing discharge summary report application which now
retrieves and integrates information by pulling in Nursing, Social Work
and Physician documentation prior to generating a printed abbreviated
copy for the patient to take home. The patient copy also includes
important phone numbers to call in case of an emergency, which further
incorporates best-demonstrated-practices via the Misys-CPR™/ CPOE™
system at Jacobi Medical Center and North
Central Bronx Hospital. The lead NOA consultant on this
project was Anna May Petronella, RN, who worked closely with NOA’s
report writing expert Judith Purvis, MT (ASCP) for final revisions to
the discharge summary report.
Jacobi Medical Center is part of the
NORTH BRONX HEALTHCARE NETWORK, and
is one of the multiple facilities of the New
York City Health and Hospitals Corporation (NYCHHC).
This enhancement during January 2007 is another example of
accomplishments by the NORTH BRONX HEALTHCARE NETWORK and represents
continued achievement towards improvement in community health.
Congratulations to Jacobi Medical Center
and NOA's clinical consulting team for a successful deployment. This
deployment is another example of how NYCHHC continues to demonstrate
quality and excellence in meeting community healthcare needs by using
the Misys CPR™ / Misys CPOE™ (Patient1®) system as an
integrated electronic health record.

About Negley, Ott &
Associates, Inc. |
| NOA was formed in 1992 by
IS professionals with a desire to provide hospital information system
and clinical professionals with best demonstrated practices in
conjunction with implementing clinical software systems that focus on
patient care. The issues, personalities, opportunities, challenges and
solutions required by clinical system implementations require the
ability to meld sensitivity to clinical processes with the realities of
computing and patient care delivery. To date, NOA has provided services
to over 60 hospitals installing clinical systems using an approach that
stresses both outcomes and knowledge transfer. Supporting so many users,
both during and after their installation, gives NOA the opportunity to
understand the issues that make clinical systems work, and those that
don't. |
