NOA provides staff augmentation consulting support at Phoenix Children’s Hospital for a successful activation in July 2007 involving deployment of clinical documentation

July 2007Phoenix Children’s Hospital (PCH) project team successfully implemented the first of a four-phased project plan to implement clinical documentation using NOA’s staff augmentation consulting support.  PCH had previously engaged NOA to provide project management and design/configuration support via NOA’s staff-augmentation services.  After months of planning and hard work, PCH brought live two pilot units to validate design and implementation efforts for the remaining phases of the project plan.  The activation was a huge success and required minimal rework on any of the clinical documentation functionality.  NOA’s Jeanie Eckmann, MT (ASCP) was the lead consultant on this project; during the activation, she was joined by another NOA consultant, Pelvia Woods, RN, who also has extensive experience supporting clinical documentation deployments using the Sunrise Clinical Manager™ system.  This consulting engagement enabled the PCH project team based at Phoenix to design and deploy a standard model of clinical documentation during their pilot phase of the project.  According to NOA’s Jeanie Eckmann, PCH had a great task force that did a thorough job of planning the deployment and made all the design decisions.  The interdisciplinary task force was comprised of around 70 people with an inner core group of around 20.  They came up with a solid design that required minimal post-live changes — a definite sign of success.  According to Jeanie, the training was also excellent.  The IT trainer recruited 3 nurses to help out with training, and they did a 5 hour class for nurses that included lots of hands-on experience that was very well received by the nursing staff trained.  In fact, the nursing staff has already indicated that this was such a successful implementation and they are eager to move forward with the additional units.

In September 2006, NOA was selected to provide clinical systems consulting support to Phoenix Children’s Hospital.  The engagement involved providing support as a member of the project team in a staff augmentation capacity in order to facilitate in the transfer of knowledge and best-demonstrated-practices to the hospital’s internal project team.

Congratulations to Phoenix Children’s Hospital and NOA's clinical consultants for a successful activation that leverages NOA's best-demonstrated-practices with clinical computing using the Eclipsys Sunrise Clinical Manager system .
