Configuration and development of an automated deep vein thrombosis risk
based evaluation on Misys-CPR at NYCHHC |
|
April 2006:
Negley, Ott & Associates, Inc.'s
consulting team supports development of on-line DVT evaluation using the
Misys-CPR system.
With the support of NOA’s Brenda Rollins the
New York City Health and Hospitals
Corporation, the corporate entity for all the NYCHHC
facilities in New York City, began implementing the automated, on-line
risk based evaluation of DVT (deep vein thrombosis) using the Misys-CPR
system.
The project involved leveraging the Misys CPR™/ Misys CPOE™ system via
customized configuration thus building the database necessary to
establish an automated process. By having the database configured
based on customized specifications, the patient is evaluated based on
predefined risk criteria and an automated score is derived from this
evaluation. The score is then combined with relevant clinical
documentation (Absolute or Relative Contraindications to Anticoagulant
Therapy) in order to provide a suggested prophylactic regimen for the
patient’s care plan. By documenting this information in the
electronic health record, the information can be easily viewed by all
providers with appropriate security access.
This implementation event is another significant accomplishment for the
NYCHHC towards their initiatives to
standardize configurations for utilization at all eleven facilities
which comprise NYCHHC.
Congratulations to NYCHHC and NOA's
project team for a successful development! This is another example
of quality and excellence towards community health by using the Misys
CPR™ / Misys CPOE™ integrated electronic health record.

About Negley, Ott &
Associates, Inc. |
| NOA was formed in 1992 by
IS professionals with a desire to provide hospital information system
and clinical professionals with best demonstrated practices in
conjunction with implementing clinical software systems that focus on
patient care. The issues, personalities, opportunities, challenges and
solutions required by clinical system implementations require the
ability to meld sensitivity to clinical processes with the realities of
computing and patient care delivery. To date, NOA has provided services
to over 40 hospitals installing clinical systems using an approach that
stresses both outcomes and knowledge transfer. Supporting so many users,
both during and after their installation, gives NOA the opportunity to
understand the issues that make clinical systems work, and those that
don't. |
