October 2005:
Negley, Ott & Associates, Inc.'s
consulting team implemented the new graphical user interface called
Clinical Desktop as the new mechanism used by providers to access the
CPR at the Queens Health Network.
With the support of NOA’s Donna Welsh, RT, Cynthia Herold, MT (ASCP),
Stacie Barrow, Dar Sabatino, R.N. and fourteen other NOA consultants,
the Queens Hospital Center and Elmhurst
Hospital Center, a member of the Queens Health Network and
the New York Health and Hospitals Corporation went live with the new
graphic interface version of the Misys-CPR called Clinical Desktop.
The hospital’s provider staff (physicians, physician assistants, nurse
practitioners and CNMs) all began using the new software for clinical
desktops in a phased installation over the course of a one month period.
During the course of this project the hospital project team and NOA
built a unified desktop in collaboration with the major service areas in
the institution to allow providers a common look and feel regardless of
the care venue. The hospital and NOA converted over 3000
devices and trained more than 700 providers for this
initiative and provided 24x7 support to insure that all users had
a smooth transition to the new tool.
"I am pleased that our partnership
with physicians in the design and implementation of the CPR has been so
successful. We hope that the use of Vista will enhance the
physicians' facility with the system, and contribute to improved
efficiency and safety of patient care.”, says Diane Carr,
Associate Executive Director of the Queens Health Network and 2002
winner of the CPRI Davies Award for Excellence in CPR Implementations.
This deployment is another example of the
commitment this organization makes to provide the best current
generation IT solutions to clinicians in order to support best practices
and is another significant accomplishment for the
Queens Health Network.
Congratulations to New York City Health and Hospital Corporation,
Queens Health Network and NOA's
project team for a successful deployment! This deployment is another
example of how NYCHHC continues to demonstrate quality and excellence
towards community health by using the Misys CPR™ / Misys CPOE™
integrated electronic health record.
