Woodhull Medical and Mental Health
Center, Brooklyn, NY -- May, 2004 -- NEGLEY, OTT &
ASSOCIATES, INC. (NOA) consultants, Pelvia Woods, RN, and Brenda Rollins, recently
completed a project to develop and deploy specific applications within
the Misys-CPR™/ CPOE™ system to support diabetic protocols at the
outpatient Cumberland Diagnostic and Treatment
Center, which together with the
Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center, is a part of the
North Brooklyn Health Network,
operated by the New York City Health and
Hospitals Corporation (NYCHHC).
Using American Diabetes Association
Guidelines for Diabetics, a protocol for diagnosis, treatment and
follow-up care was delivered at Cumberland using configuration of the
Misys CPR tools. The database included a detailed view of
pertinent lab values, documentation of patient history, and treatment
plan capabilities. The database building and system configuration
was performed by NOA consulting personnel under the guidance of Dr.
Evelyn Opoku, a member of the medical staff at Woodhull.
Within the new applications developed by NOA, patient care providers are
able to review significant clinical information as well as document
indicators, diagnosis, and treatment plans for diabetic patients.
This protocol has been implemented at Cumberland, an outpatient facility
component of Woodhull, which is part of the North Brooklyn Health
Network. The go-live implementation of the new applications and
databases was achieved in May, 2004.
This go-live event is another significant accomplishment for the
North Brooklyn Health Network and
represents continued achievement towards improvement in community
health.
Congratulations to
Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center
and NOA's
Pelvia Woods and Brenda Rollins for a successful
deployment. This deployment is another example of
how NYCHHC continues to demonstrate quality and excellence towards community
health by using the Misys CPR™ / Misys CPOE™ (Patient1®)
system as an integrated electronic health record.
