Coney Island Hospital, Brooklyn, NY
-- January, 2004 --
Negley, Ott & Associates, Inc. (NOA)
consultant, Joe Barone, MT(ASCP), recently completed a
project to convert Coney Island Hospital (CIH)
to the newest software version of the Misys-CPR /CPOE™ system, which was
formerly known as Patient1 Vista. Coney Island Hospital is one of
the facilities of the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation (NYCHHC).
Joe Barone’s consultation efforts were part of a team approach comprised
of NOA, Misys and CIH personnel. CIH went live in January 2004 by
converting to the new Vista functionality. The go-live included a new
GUI order entry with redesigned desktops and order sets for multiple
medical specialties. These improvements were implemented using the Misys
CPR™ and Misys CPOE™ system, formerly known as the Patient1®
system.
This go-live event is another significant accomplishment for Coney
Island Hospital and represents continued achievement towards improvement
in community health.
The project included the design and building of physician desktops
with five variations designed for the Coney Site to accommodate
approximately 750 physicians, residents, medical students, nurse
practitioners and nurse midwifes. The design was based upon a
successful pilot go-live which was evaluated by approximately 60
physicians from the Departments of Cardiology, OB/GYN and Pediatrics.
In addition, CIH also successfully implemented the new VISTA GUI within
Radiology, Laboratory, Pharmacy, Social Services, Infection Control,
Employee Health and nursing in three outpatient clinics.
Congratulations to, Coney Island Hospital, Misys, NOA's Joe Barone and
the other team members for a successful deployment! This
deployment is another example of how NYCHHC continues to demonstrate
quality and excellence towards community health by using the Patient1®
/ Misys CPR™ / Misys CPOE™ integrated electronic health record.
