May 2004:

Broken Arrow Hospital (a division of Saint Francis Health System) Leverages NOA and the Misys-CPR™ / Misys-CPOE™ System for a Hospital-wide Go-live Event

Broken Arrow Hospital, Broken Arrow, OK -- May, 2004 -- NEGLEY, OTT & ASSOCIATES, INC. (NOA) consulting team members recently provided go-live consulting and on-site support for a hospital-wide system rollout of the Misys-CPR™ system.  NOA had the privilege of participating with the Saint Francis Health System (SFH) project team analysts in the design and support of the Broken Arrow Hospital (BA) CPR implementation which extended the longitudinal patient record that is deployed at the main Saint Francis Hospital facility.  NOA provided around-the-clock coverage and support during the entire go-live event.  According to Dave Paulson, Manager of Clinical Systems Support, the event was a huge success:

“This was the smoothest go-live that I have ever participated in.  As always, we found the NOA people to be extremely competent and knowledgeable, but also a joy to work with.  I received numerous comments from the hospital personnel regarding how friendly and helpful they were.  In fact, the ER scheduled a going-away lunch for their NOA support person before she left.”
said Dave Paulson, Manager of Clinical Systems Support.

Saint Francis Hospital’s goal was to achieve a broader community based longitudinal record for improving the quality of community health through having one CPR system across all patients and care providers who use both the main Saint Francis Hospital as well as the Broken Arrow division facility.

The go-live event was a hospital-wide implementation that included the following departments and modules:

  • Lab departmental processing and instrument interfaces

  • Pharmacy department processing and medication review

  • Radiology department processing

  • Clinical documentation

  • Limited Nursing documentation

  • Emergency Department

  • Electronic chart review

  • Order Communications for all ancillary services

Congratulations to Saint Francis Health System / Broken Arrow Hospital team for a successful go-live.  This deployment is another example of how Saint Francis Health System continues to demonstrate quality and excellence towards community health by using the Misys CPR™ / Misys CPOE™ (Patient1®) system as an integrated electronic health record.

About Negley, Ott & Associates, Inc.
NOA was formed in 1992 by IS professionals with a desire to provide hospital information system and clinical professionals with best demonstrated practices in conjunction with implementing clinical software systems that focus on patient care. The issues, personalities, opportunities, challenges and solutions required by clinical system implementations require the ability to meld sensitivity to clinical processes with the realities of computing and patient care delivery. To date, NOA has provided services to over 40 hospitals installing clinical systems using an approach that stresses both outcomes and knowledge transfer. Supporting so many users, both during and after their installation, gives NOA the opportunity to understand the issues that make clinical systems work, and those that don't.
