The 2003 CEO IT
Achievement Award is sponsored by
Modern Healthcare and the Chicago-based Healthcare Information and
Management Systems Society (HIMSS). This is a very prestigious award and
follows the CPRI Davies award, which was also given to the Queens Healthcare
Network in 2002. The criteria for this award are as follows:

“The recipients of this award are true leaders in the
healthcare information technology industry,”
said H. Stephen Lieber, president/CEO of HIMSS,
“They had the foresight to implement technology
solutions within their organizations and to provide their ongoing support
for the improvement of patient care.”
Mr. Velez was
one of two people chosen from a field of 50 applicants. A six-member panel
of their peers subsequently made the selections after a four-week review
process.
