January 2003 Forrest General Hospital goes live with Computer Based Training (CBT).

Forrest General Hospital is a 500+ bed regional referral, multi-facility tertiary care medical center with approximately 3,000 employees.  In 1997 the hospital went live on the Ulticare® / Patient1® / Vista / Misys CPR™ / Misys CPOE™.

In January 2003, Negley, Ott & Associates, Inc. delivered a customized training system for Forrest General to use with their patient care staff in order to learn the "best practices" approach to leveraging the Ulticare® / Patient1® / Vista / Misys CPR™ / Misys CPOE™ system. For years, the Education and Analysts staff at Forrest General have conducted training classes which required physical proctoring of classrooms. This was very time consuming and only provided a limited opportunity for staff to learn all of the automation procedures on Ulticare® / Patient1® / Vista / Misys CPR™ / Misys CPOE™ in order to generate maximum return on investment (ROI).

Due to recognizing that the knowledge transfer process in a classroom setting had varying levels of success due to the need to cover so much information, the hospital decided to leverage an automated training system that looks just like the Ulticare® / Patient1® / Vista / Misys CPR™ / Misys CPOE™ system. The Computerized Based Training (CBT) system at Forrest General is designed to train nurses, nurse aids and technicians as well as unit secretaries on Ulticare® / Patient1® / Vista / Misys CPR™ / Misys CPOE™. One of the benefits of a CBT is the flexibility of all staff being able to access it any time when needed to both initially learn or refresh skills on the Ulticare® / Patient1® / Vista / Misys CPR™ / Misys CPOE™ system.

By using the CBT the hospital hopes to achieve a greater degree of compliance with clinical practices on the Ulticare® / Patient1® / Vista / Misys CPR™ / Misys CPOE™ system which are considered "best practices."

This was a large project undertaking, and Negley, Ott & Associates, Inc. was able to deliver a functionally rich CBT with the following lesson plans requested by Forrest General:

1) STAFF ASSIGNMENTS & QUEUES
2) PATIENT SCHEDULES & REVIEW QUEUES
3) ORDER ENTRY
4) CHART REVIEW
5) SPECIMEN PROCESSING
6) CLINICAL DOCUMENTATION FOR ASSESSMENTS
7) CLINICAL DOCUMENTATION FOR PROCEDURES

CONGRATULATIONS TO FORREST GENERAL HOSPITAL ON CONTINUED EXCELLENCE FOR THEIR USE OF TECHNOLOGY TOWARDS IMPROVING PATIENT CARE DELIVERY!
