October 2002:  Negley, Ott & Associates, Inc. brings Queens Hospital Center live on inpatient physician order entry for physicians and clinical chart review for all care givers.

Under the leadership of NOA's Cynthia Herold, who served as the implementation project manager, the Queens Hospital Center successfully implemented all inpatient order entry applications for every clinical service area including critical care.  The scope of this go-live also included entering orders within the emergency room for patients who are being admitted as inpatients.

The results of the go-live were very successful and demonstrated value for QHC almost immediately. Within the first two days of go-live there were over 2,000 orders entered by medical staff members, residents, physician assistants and nurse practitioners. The orders were processed via the Ulticare® / Patient1® / Vista / Misys CPR™ / Misys CPOE™ system enabling alerts for drug-to-drug interactions, drug dosing and drug allergy checks.  These improvements greatly enhance QHC's patient safety efforts.

The Queens Hospital Center is comprised of approximately 2,470 physicians, residents, physician assistants and nurse practitioners. There are 300 registered nurses, 83 licensed practical nurses and over 300 clinical support staff. This was a large project that resulted in a quality go-live.

Congratulations to the Queens Health Network and Negley, Ott & Associates, Inc. on yet another quality project implementation of best practices for a CPR system!
