On September 13, 2002, Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania went live with new lab functionality deployed by Negley, Ott & Associates, Inc., (NOA) on the Ulticare® / Patient1® / Vista / Misys CPR™ / Misys CPOE™ system. Graduate Hospital is part of the Tenet Healthcare Corporation and has had the Ulticare® / Patient1® / Vista / Misys CPR™ / Misys CPOE™ lab module for several years. The scope of the deployment project was two-fold. First, it was intended to replace the legacy methodology practice for managing Laboratory reference ranges and second, to re-write several patient related reports using the organic Ulticare® / Patient1® / Vista / Misys CPR™ / Misys CPOE™ report writer instead of the formerly used mumps formats. Prior to NOA’s involvement in this project, Graduate’s lab methodology utilized hard-coded reference ranges. That methodology caused ongoing problems with maintaining the system for both Lab and IS personnel. With technical expertise from Jeanie Eckmann as the NOA consultant, the Lab methodology and maintenance regiment is much improved by allowing a more dynamic process for establishing and maintaining reference ranges which will not present the challenges to Lab and IS support personnel like the former processes. This new design and approach to managing reference ranges in a lab module is just another example of the best demonstrated practices introduced by Negley, Ott & Associates, Inc. who bring extensive clinical and technical expertise to the table for our customers. Congratulations to Graduate Hospital, Jeanie Eckmann and the other members of the NOA team for a successful deployment. |
